Sky Sports News - Top of the hour
The brief for Sky Sports News was to generate a title sequence that promoted the Sky Sports News channel and key stories that were coming up in the next hour. Weaving live footage with data from our digital platforms meant that it kept the content fresh and up to date every single hour.
The cut sequence and durations much like in the version of Sky News were developed in Softimage XSi and then placed into VizRT. The key difference with this sequence was the need to be able to wrap the live content onto the moving faces that had deformation. To do this, a "snapshot" of the content was made and then redistributed across the geometry within the scene moments before the sequence was played out.
The breakdown of the data flow is shown in the diagram below.
Compositing
The compositing of the scene was performed in Flame from the 3D render output and a follow up pass of compositing was then performed in the real-time system where reflection and specular passes were rendered into a separate layer and 3D tracked flares / overlays were added over the top of the sequence.
